ST JOHN'S VISION

OUR VISION is to increase the community of the Church in the Parish of St John the Baptist, Meols, and to

bring the Word of God to the Parish.

We began the process last September and now we have moved on to the second stage by consulting with

the Congregation to give their views on the Services within the Church as it is the Parish Vision not mine or

Gillians.

There are many practical aspects to the vision some more important than others

1. A heating group has been set up which will take on board the advice of the Diocesan Heating Expert, and

thereby work will start to answer the problem.

2. The standing committee are looking at the Keighley Trust and the best use of those monies.

3. The fabric of the church is being considered and a Quinquennial is imminent, this will draw our attention to

essential needs.

That being acknowledged we must now look again at what is required of us both as a church and as those

who Jesus commissioned to go out and give the good news to others which is a vital part of our mission.

Our 1st 3 issues from October were Young people, Increasing numbers and Communication.

Some encouraging progress has been made and other things are planned as a result of the Consultation

we had last October.

1)New people in Church from Weddings, Funerals, Back to Church and Meols Matters.

2)Coffee morning which now incorporates a Police Forum once a fortnight and welcomes the residents of

Ryecroft each week.

3)Praise and Play leading into toddler group and in the near future a Young Womens Group.

4)Parents bringing their children back after baptism

5)Calendar of Events-- Outreach events planned / programme of future events

6)Lunches for frail / hoping to run jointly with St Andrews

7)Growing Ministry team.

8)Communication. Magazine. Vision Boards. Web. Meols Matters. Events. School Visits.

9)Doorway Course is on the way.

Where would we like to be in another 6 months.?

How do we work towards it?

What can we build on?

What holds people back?

How can we improve our Welcome / Worship /the Whole Experience?

Our second Parish Consultation on 29th June discussed all these questions and we will report back in

August/September with the views of the Parish and our Plans to address them.
